Summer – 622

Hello Everyone,
I first want to welcome all the new members of our Friends of 622 Mailing List.  I do my best to keep these emails as informational and to the point as possible, and I promise there will be no spam.  We have a lot going on this summer at 622 North and Frank’s Bar and I want to make sure you are informed to maximize your summer fun.
622 North has started a new promotion for our Friends of 622 North Mailing List Members.  If you are a member of our e-mail list, you are eligible for a free meal on your birthday! Bring your family and/or friends into 622 North for your birthday meal during the week of your birthday, and we will give you your meal for free.  We update our mailing list at the end of each month, so tell your friends and family to sign up now so they will be on the list before their birthday.  Please bring a photo ID to verify your identity and birthday.
We have had a few staff changes since the last email.  We are proud to announce Chef Tom Newton as the Executive Chef of 622 North.  He accepted the position a little over a month ago, and we are very excited to have him leading our culinary team in the kitchen.  Tom’s promotion left a void at Sous Chef, which has now been filled by Katherine (Katie) Shipko.  Katie has been a line cook for several years and is ready and deserving of a leadership position at 622 North.  We are very proud of both Tom & Katie, and have been very impressed with their team’s food over the six weeks.
622 North also has a new Sommelier in our Wine Bar.  As many of you know, our former Sommelier Trent Crabtree is leaving Blacksburg next week.  We promoted Brooke Lawson to our Sommelier position this week, and are very excited to have such a talented employee take over the position.  We will start our 622 North Wine Club back up next month so keep an eye out for Brooke’s first tasting.
The theme of Frank’s Bar this summer is “Raising the Bar.”  This is a goal the bar staff has set for themselves to push to be the best bar we possibly can.  We want to ”raise the bar” for ourselves when it comes to customer service and offering a consistent quality product.  We also want to “raise the bar” of customer expectations in Blacksburg.  We want to show people what a great staff we have, and what our staff can accomplish when we push ourselves to the max.  With this in mind, we switched from the regular sours mix you would see in most bars in the country, to our all-natural, fresh-squeezed, homemade Sours Mix that we make fresh 3 – 4 times a week.  The positive feedback we received inspired us to expand to the 622 “Fresh Squeeze of the Day.”  Each week, our bartenders and mad scientist mixologists develop a new fresh-squeezed drink special.  So far we have featured drinks such as the Chipotle-Mango with fresh pureed mango, chipotle-infused simple syrup, and vodka.  Others include our Cucumber Cooler, the Prickly-Melon Martini, and the Jalapeno-Watermelon Cooler.  Below are the other specials, promotions, and events going on this summer in Frank’s Bar.
Tuesday – $9  1/2lb Peel-n-Eat Shrimp Night 5 – 10pm Each week Chef Tom chooses a different draft beer for our Beer Boil.  These shrimp are definitely worth the trip.
Wednesday – $2  18oz Miller Lite bottles.  2pm til they are gone.
Thursday & Friday – Fresh Brewed Sun-Tea Cocktails Each Thursday we brew a new flavor of sun-tea that our staff turns into a delicious refreshing cocktail great for drinking outside in the summer heat.

Beginning June 16th, Frank’s Bar will offer buckets of beer all day everyday.
